When we have a patient that is new to our office a common question that they may have is “how much does chiropractic care cost?” That can be a complicated question to answer. The price a patient must pay can vary based on if a patient has insurance. Also, price may vary based on what specific services need to be performed. The following article is meant to be a brief discussion of costs in our Sioux Falls chiropractic office, as of February 2024.
Do You Accept Insurance?
Our chiropractors currently accept, or are “in network,” with most major health insurance plans. This includes most national and regional health insurance companies. BlueCross BlueShield, Avera, Sanford, Medica, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare and UMR insurance companies are some of the most common plans that we see (and are in-network with) in our Sioux Falls office. We also accept Medicare and South Dakota Medicaid. A patient’s cost under these insurance policies can vary based on which specific policy and coverage they have. Some health insurance policies may have a set copay amount per visit. Other policies may have a deductible. If a policy has a deductible the patient is typically responsible for all costs until the deductible is met.
Also, we accept Worker’s Compensation and Auto Accident Liability insurance claims. Under these programs the patient is generally not responsible for the cost of care and our providers are paid by the insurance company.
The Cost of Chiropractic Care With No Insurance
In our office the majority of patients do use their health insurance to help with the cost of their care. We do, however, see patients that do not have insurance. Patients without insurance pay for chiropractic care out of their own pocket. Pricing for the first visit can vary from $80-$200 based on what level of exam is needed and if x-rays are required. After the first visit a typical adjustment price in our office usually ranges from $33-$50 per visit. The price on any given visit can vary based on how many regions are adjusted. If patient is unable to pay in full for a given visit, we willing to try to try work out payment plan to allow them to get the care they needed even if they can’t pay the full amount at the time of service.
At Your Visit
If you have insurance, we will try to look up your specific insurance coverage at your visit. With this information we will try to give you our best estimate of expected costs. We try to be accurate with these estimates but until the insurance company processes your claim, we won’t know with 100% certainty if our estimate is correct. If you have already been to our office and have a new insurance, please let us know so we can update our system. This will help us to better estimate your costs and to get your claims processed as efficiently as possible. If you would like to schedule an appointment or have any questions, please contact us. We will do our best to answer any questions about the costs of chiropractic care that you may have. We would welcome the opportunity to provide you and your family with chiropractic care.
